Anantapur Ashrama is one of the 16 Datta Kshetras, the divine abode of Sri Gnaana Saagara Dattatreya Swami in the company of his consort Sri Anagha Devi. Karyasiddhi Hanuman, and Navagraha deities are also worshiped here.

Anantapur, situated in the dry terrain of Rayalaseema is significant because Sri Swamiji spent his teenage years here, during which, with help from his friends, he dug a fresh water well overnight, to relieve the shortage of drinking water, caused by severe drought.
